If you haven't visited one of our screenings before, you might wonder - what is Lost In Film all about and how does it work?
Lost In Film is the film society based in Lostwithiel, south-east Cornwall, founded in June 2008. We aim to screen the best of recent cinema with a programme of roughly 20 films per year.
What we show
Our films are screened on the second and final Monday of each month between September and June, with a few exceptions (check our listings for up-coming films). We take a summer break for July and August.
Our programme is designed to showcase the very best of recent cinema, across a wide range of genres and formats. We don't show classics - our regular programme only includes films less than 2 years old, apart from occasional special events. Film details are posted on this website as soon as they have been programmed.
We have two types of screening: the Main Film (last Mondays) and Screen 2 (2nd Mondays). Our Main Film tends to have broad appeal and are almost always English language. They may be popular blockbusters or acclaimed award-winning films.
In contrast, our Screen 2 Films can be more specialist interest; they may be foreign-language with subtitles, or documentaries, or particularly violent or challenging in other respects.
Our website contains a trailer, a short synopsis and a selection of reviews for each film, then after the screening, we post the audience reaction score.
Our regular venue is the Church Rooms in Church Lane, Lostwithiel, pictured. Church Lane is on the opposite side of Fore Street from St Bart's church.
The nearest parking is along Fore Street or the Parade, on the Town Quay or in the main car park (entrance on the A390). Click here for a map
The Church Rooms has a small step at the main door and level access through the side doors, plus disabled toilets. It's best to let us know in advance if you need the side doors open so we can get them ready.
Doors open at 7pm, along with the Church Rooms bar which serves wines, beers and soft drinks. Lost In Film runs a snack stall selling nuts, olives and chocolate.
Our screenings start at 8pm; all film lengths are listed in the film details on our website. We don't have an interval.
Seating is unallocated so it's first come, first served with the choice chairs. The maximum capacity is 90 seats. The chairs are a mixture of padded folding chairs without arms and padded chairs with arms. Our friendly advice is that for films over 2 hours long, you may want to bring a cushion for comfort!
Tickets can be bought in advance from Watts Trading on Fore Street in Lostwithiel, or online on this website. Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for under 18s.
There is no booking fee for buying tickets online and you don't need to print anything out - your tickets will be waiting for your on the door at the Church Rooms. You can pay for online tickets with a debit card, credit card or with a Paypal account. If you have any problems with online bookings, email email@example.com
Any tickets remaining will be sold on the door from 7pm, on the night of the film. Maximum capacity for the Church rooms is 90 so once they're gone, they're gone!
Films are selected by the Lost In Film committee, who plan between 3 and 4 months worth of films at a time. We're always happy to receive film suggestions and recommendations! There are many ways you can get involved with Lost In Film, either as a volunteer on the night or with one of the many roles that our committee carry out, such as choosing films, marketing, social media etc. If you want to find out more, please do get in touch.
