Girls Can't Surf (12)

Monday 9th October 2023

Doors and bar open 7pm, film starts 8pm

Our October Screen 2 film will be Girls Can't Surf...

It's the 1980s and the world of professional surfing is a circus of fluro colours, peroxide hair and radical male egos. GIRLS CAN'T SURF follows the journey of a band of renegade surfers who took on the male-dominated professional surfing world to achieve equality and change the sport forever. GIRLS CAN'T SURF is a wild ride of clashing personalities, sexism, adventure and heartbreak, with each woman fighting against the odds to make their dreams of competing a reality.

'Girls Can't Surf is a spectacular, angering, engrossing and inspiring yarn, well-assembled and packed with indelible personalities.' Graeme Tuckett, stuff.co.nz

'Knowing that significant change has finally come to the sport doesn't diminish the potency of hearing about the horrors, struggles and rampant sexism that female surfers endured for decades.' Sarah Ward, Concrete Playground

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for under 18s and are available online now.
