Our November Screen 2 film will be Lady Bird, an awkward coming-of-age story and a love letter to director Greta Gerwig's hometown.

Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha) brings a bold new cinematic voice to her directorial debut, showing the humour and pathos of the turbulent bonds between a mother and her teenage daughter.

Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against - but is exactly like - her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mother (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse who works tirelessly to keep her family afloat.

Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.

"A heartfelt coming-of-age story that perfectly captures the bittersweet transition from adolescence to dawning adulthood..." April Wolfe, Village Voice

"Saoirse Ronan is not only finest working actor of her generation, but she elevates everything she's in. With all the things going for this movie, it makes it even better." Wesley Lovell, Cinema Sight

Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for under 18s, and are available online now or in advance from Watts Trading or on the door if not already sold out.
