Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (PG)

Monday 11th September 2023

Doors and bar open 7pm, film starts 8pm

Our September Screen 2 film will be Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom...

A disillusioned teacher in Bhutan, who dreams of going to Australia to become a singer, is sent to the most isolated school in the Himalayas where there is no electricity, textbooks or a blackboard. He wants to quit and go home, but he begins to learn of the hardship in the lives of the beautiful children he teaches, and begins to be transformed through the amazing spiritual strength of the villagers. Oscar nominated, and with stunning scenery, this is a simple story with a very big heart.

' the film is so pure of spirit and so open-hearted, you want to breathe it in, to fill your lungs with it.' Wendy Ide, The Observer

'The gorgeous views of the Himalayan mountains only add to the appeal of a film that, while hitting familiar plot beats, is an irresistible delight from start to finish.' David Parkinson, Radio Times

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for under 18s and are available online now.
