The Old Oak (15)

Monday 26th February 2024

Doors open 7pm, film starts 8pm

Our February main film will be The Old Oak...

The future for the last remaining pub, The Old Oak, in a village of Northeast England, where people are leaving the land as the mines are closed. Houses are cheap and available, thus making it an ideal location for Syrian refugees.  A film imbued with the fiercely humanistic spirit that has defined Ken Loach's filmography.

'The Old Oak might just be the most potent cinematic comment on post-Brexit Britain without ever uttering the word.' Hanna Flint, House Notes

'If The Old Oak is to be Ken Loach’s final film, the 87-year-old firebrand director is certainly going out on an artistic high.' Alistair Harkness, Scotsman

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for under 18s and are available online now.
