The Personal History of David Copperfield (PG)

Monday 14th December 2020

Doors open 7pm, film starts 8pm

As a result of the 4-week lockdown in England beginning 9th November, we have postponed our screening of David Copperfield to Monday 14th December.

The Personal History of David Copperfield is a fresh, funny, and utterly charming spin on Dickens' classic starring Dev Patel.

From birth to infancy, from adolescence to adulthood, the good-hearted David Copperfield is surrounded by kindness, wickedness, poverty and wealth, as he meets an array of remarkable characters in Victorian England. As David sets out to be a writer, in his quest for family, friendship, romance and status, the story of his life is the most seductive tale of all.

“The film ultimately lives or dies on the strength of its central performance. And in Patel's hands it's a thing of beauty. You've got to love him.” Times (UK)

“Everything rattles and zings like a pinball machine, and it's a bracing, entertaining, richly satisfying experience.” Guardian
